Councils supporting Local Business ????

DO WE WANT THE TRADIONAL HIGH STREET IN OUR SUBURBS

Or

Has that choice been taken away from us by someone sitting behind a desk in our city council offices who has now decided that our high street is looking a tadge messy!

What with advertising ‘A’ boards being displayed outside the tobacconists & general stores telling us where we can get a ‘Lotto’ ticket or find a cash dispenser or get the latest edition of the ‘Echo’& even buy a ‘Walls’ ice cream!

So what do they do ………Of Course!!!! They put a blanket ban on anything being displayed outside shops!!!

????????????????????????????????????????????????????

So the florist who depends on its beautiful colourful fragrant display to let us all see what they sell, as well as adding a wonderful splash of colour & waft of perfume to an otherwise drab, boring grey pavement!

The Greengrocer with their pyramids of local & exotic fruit, their seasonal vegetables cascading down from green baize covered wooden boxes attracting locals to “Buy Local”

And (here’s where we come in!) The Antique shop, with its quirky Victorian hatstands & artifacts outside, & copper kettles & brass lanterns hanging above the door, enticing the odd passing car to stop out of curiosity & pop in for a browse!…….

The Shops on Aigburth Vale have all been banned from displaying anything on the pavement outside !!!!
(The PC excuse of "Health & Safety once again!!!)

These types of shops for generations have used these methods to gain sales; they have no way of competing with huge High Street Conglomerates, Supermarkets, & Retail Parks!! Small Independents are struggling just to stay open especially in times of recession they need as much help from local councils as they can get!!!!!!!

YET

Just down the road

WE HAVE

TESCO

(Tesco Rapid Aigburth Road taken a week after our warning)
